It was November 2010 and I was preparing to start my Masters degree. With some time off, I decided to have elective surgery on my shoulder. Wouldn't you know it. I was all set to roll into the OR when the anesthesiologist ordered a pregnancy test. It was positive as was the verification test. So, as you would guess, surgery was cancelled.
I went to my GYN and had another ultrasound to rule out an ectopic pregnancy, but was negative. She believed I had a miscarriage. And I spent the next several weeks going back and forth to the lab for blood work and watch my pregnancy hormone levels drop.
Now to start class. Classes were going well when I began to feel tired more than usual. Classes had me so focused that I hadn't realized that it had been 6 weeks since my last period. So I go to the nearest drug store for a pregnancy test.
Yes! It was positive. Met my husband on his lunch hour and told him the news.
